In strength training the pinch grip is holding an object between the palmar surface of the fingers and the opposing thumb. The adductor pollicis, dorsal interosseous and flexor pollicis brevis are the primary muscles recruited and developed in this action.

Grip Strength

Pinch gripping can be trained in multiple ways;

using a tip pinch, one digit and the thumb, a tripod pinch, using two digits and the thumb and a lateral pinch grip, whereby the thumb is adducted and flexed during the movement.
