For thousands of years, much of Northern Ohio lay covered by an enormous swamp whose vastness stretched all or part of 12 counties in Ohio, as well as part of Indiana. It was called The Great Black Swamp. By 1830 most of the desirable ground east of the Mississippi was settled. Pioneers began to look at the Black Swamp as a choice.Through extensive work, difficult times, deep drainage ditches, and most of all, hardy people, the Black Swamp was transposed into, what is now recognized as, Northern Ohio.
Every year, Atomic Athletic puts on the Great Black Swamp Strongman Picnic, in Bowling Green ,Ohio.
The picnic is representive of the strength of the peope who settled this area.
Don't miss it and Get Strong.
