Squat Without Teaching

It is estimated that there are over 200 muscles that are activated during the squatting movement; quadriceps femoris, hip extensors, hip adductors, hip abductors, triceps surae, gluteal muscles, abdominals, erector spinae, trapezius, rhomboids and many others are utilized to provide movement and facilitate postural stabilization of the trunk.

Barbell squats are performed in a variety of depths, generally measured by the degrees of flexion at the knee. Deep squats (greater than 100 degrees), half squats (70 -100 degrees), and quarter squats (40 degree angle) are the depths that are often categorized and utilized by strength coaches.

Other factors besides depth associated with squatting are varying intensity of load, foot placement, speed of movement, position of bar, upright posture, spinal alignment, eyes, head and ankle angles. These coaching variables are all related to one’s anatomical features and structural mobility and affect one’s squatting performance and how strength is developed. Coaching the barbell squat using different techniques and methodologies requires an understanding of the impact of muscle activity on joint loading.

When building an exercise machine addressing these human factors are an important part of the process of product development. The Pendulum Power Squat Pro was designed to eliminate the necessity for the complexity of bodily adjustments by the user, so all with or without very little coaching, could maximize the expected results of strength training when barbell squatting.

For the athlete achieving the appropriate depth when exercising on the Squat Pro there is a built in range limiter. Once the depth is selected by the lifter by feel or purpose, he or she again places their feet in the same comfortable position in the center of the foot plate. Next, they reach out holding on to the machine’s workarms and begin the movement. The patented floating shoulder yoke becomes the coach and adjusts the load based on one’s anatomy during each movement.

Range Limiter

It can be said that exercising on the Pendulum Power Squat Pro is the exact form that athletes and coaches are trying to accomplish by adjusting all the aforementioned techniques that are utilized to achieve the correct position when performing a productive barbell squat.

If you want to get the most muscle activation out of a squatting movement add the Pendulum Squat Pro to your facility, a truly artificially intelligent machine that teaches you the best form to Get Strong.
