The Pit Shark enables the user to bypass much of the trunk and low back musculature while loading the lower extremities.
A ‘back squat’ generally activates the gluteus maximus more than using a belt when squatting. Applying varied workout strategies can circumvent this and enhance more glute muscle activity when belt squatting by several different lifting methods such as, locking out at the top of a movement, increasing depth and forcing repetitions using your arms to assist.

Another strategy to accentuate muscular development on the Pit Shark is to train a ‘sumo’ style squat, a movement similar to what powerlifters call the sumo deadlift. Adding this movement significantly increases the activity of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis and tibialis anterior, trunk and low back.
