The Pendulum 'Cam' on the 5-Way Head and Neck Machine and the 4-Way Head and Neck Machine allows the trainer to design programs that either isolate the muscles that move the head, isolate the neck muscles that move the cervical spine, or combine the two movements. The cam is also designed for doing drop sets. Drop sets are normally accomplished by changing the weight. On the Pendulum machine, the work arm is re-positioned to change the leverage used to move the resistance.

The Pendulum Cam is numbered 1-16 for precise training of athletes of all sizes and the targeting of specific areas of the head and neck musculature. To insure athletes are getting the most out of their training, many coaches use colored tape in addition to numbering in providing direction. Administering exercise to large numbers of athletes requires a system. It is easy for the coach to assign a specific number on the cam to use on a particular day to isolate an area or simply ask them to do a routine which requires them to move the face pad lever arm after each set. Below are three different workouts set by a coach using colored tape of blue, red, and black.
If an athlete was instructed to do a 'red routine', they simply move the work arm to each red hole for each set. A great way to Get Strong.
